Supporting the NHS

Written by Pathik Vashi

The world has changed almost incomparably over the least few months.  It is in difficult times that heroes are born. The NHS have always been heroes but never has that been more clear than today.

The sacrifices being made by individuals and the hard work, beyond what any of us could ever reasonably ask, is mind blowing.

With the now regular NHS Applause routine and many ways to donate to support these brave people we wanted to let you know ways you can support them.

At City Relay we are already offering our properties for free to NHS and key workers in London and will continue to do this as long as they are needed during this crisis.  If you are a key worker or NHS professional who needs somewhere to stay in London you can book via stay.cityrelay.com or call us on 020 3865 0610 to find out what we have available for you free of charge.

Beyond that there are many charities, groups and individuals doing great work to raise money.

Few can have missed Captain Tom Moore’s fundraiser. Raising money by walking lengths of his back garden, this military hero has managed to raise over £20m. You can donate to this fund via Just Giving here.

Another fund has been hugely successful on Virgin Money Giving, currently standign at over £28m and that can be contributed to easily via their website.

Another Just Giving page has been set up by Matt Lucas, Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory to provide hot meals to NHS staff in partnership with the restaurant chain Leon so if you’d rather contribute something more tangible than money you can do so here.

There are of course many more ways to support the NHS but the most important is probably to #stayathome. The more we can reduce the impact of this virus on ourselves, the less work our NHS heroes have to do.

Stay safe and well.
