Things to do in London in June 2019

Written by City Relay

June is always one of the busiest months of the year for events and activities, especially in London. Here is a short selection of the ones you don’t want to miss.

Mayfield Lavender Farm – from June 1st

This farm is quite famous among Instagramers; its lavender fields are gorgeous and make for great photography. It opens on Saturday 1st June and will be available for public viewing throughout the Summer. It is usually quite busy on the weekends, especially at the end of the Summer when the lavender will be in full bloom. Therefore, if you want to have some peace and quiet in this purple paradise, try to head there on weekday evenings. You won’t regret it.

Pride Parade – 6th of June

This event is one of the biggest to take place this month in the capital. The Parade will depart at noon on the 6th to celebrate diversity, equality, and love. For this 50th anniversary of the birth of the modern LGBT+ rights movement, the organisation is planning the biggest parade yet. As they put it themselves: “2018’s parade was monumental, but 2019’s is going to be even bigger.” Over a million people joined last year, so be prepared for an epic Pride this time again.

Open Garden Squares Weekend – 8th and 9th

London is known for its numerous gardens – but some of them are not always open to the public. On the weekend of the 8th and 9th June though, they open their doors and reveal their hidden beauty. We recommend for you to go discover some of them, especially since activities will be organised in some places such as the gardens of Canary Wharf.

Trooping the Colours (Queen’s birthday) – 8th

Yet another epic event to take place in June. In honour of Queen Elizabeth’s birthday, this impressive display of pageantry will gather her personal troops, the Household Division, on Horse Guards Parade, with Her Majesty the Queen herself attending and taking the salute. Over 1400 officers and men are on parade, together with two hundred horses; over four hundred musicians from ten bands and corps of drums march and play as one. You for sure don’t want to miss this!

Father’s day – June 16th

Father’s day is fast approaching and it’s the perfect opportunity to remind your dad how much you love him. Have you planned anything yet? Do not worry, we will soon release an article with some suggestions which might help you plan something great.

With its numerous events, the month of June truly is a great start to summer. For our hosts, it is also the beginning of a busy and prolific short let period, as we recommend they capitalize on the many activities happening at the moment.
