Things to do in London in May 2019

Written by City Relay

With the warmer, sunnier days finally coming back, you might want to enjoy a nice day out on the weekend. Here are a few ideas of things you can do around this time of year in London.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

From 21 May to 25 May, you can enjoy the breathtaking RHS Chelsea flower show in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Its beauty attracts 150,000 visitors each year, including members of the Royal Family. RHS Chelsea Flower Show tickets usually sell out quickly and must be purchased in advance, so make sure to book early.

Besides, there are lots of floral-themed events in and around the charming Chelsea neighborhood during May. Known as Chelsea in Bloom, they support the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. In 2019, dozens of shops, restaurants, and hotels will create under-the-sea-themed floral displays, which you will be able to enjoy at your leisure, or on guided tours. There will be plenty of in-store promotions and flower-inspired menus to enjoy as well.

London Wine Week

London Wine Week is a seven-day festival which takes place across the city from 13 May to 19 May 2019. For the first time, Festival Passes for London Wine Week are free. Come enjoy delicious events and wine tasting (from £6) with some friends!

London’s biggest open-air Theatre

This month, take the opportunity to watch a play while bathing in the sun with Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe. From 16 May to 8 June at Regent’s Park, immerse yourself in the fictional American town of Grover’s Corners in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play from Thornton Wilder. Click here to Book Now! Otherwise, the open-air theatres will be available throughout all summer, and a few other plays will be put on.

FA Cup Finals

The FA Cup Final will take place on 18 May in Wembley: it will surely be an amazing game. Nonetheless, if you are not a fan of going to the stadium or if you cannot get tickets, you can also watch the match live on TV in London: enjoy a pint with your football and soak up the atmosphere in a traditional English pub  such as the Churchill Arms, or in one of London’s dedicated sports bars.
